Mount Hotham FREE guided bushwalks – from December 26
These family friendly guided bushwalks showcase Mount Hotham’s history, including its gold mining past, along with the region’s unique flora and fauna. You might get lucky and see the mountain Pygmy Possum – unique to the Australian Alps.
The hikes are between 3 and 5 kilometres in length, and stunning views are guaranteed!

Bright Mountain Film Festival – from December 28
The Bright Mountain Film Tour (BMFT) brings together a selection of adventure films from around the world.
Kick back with a beverage and tasty meal while you enjoy an awe-inspiring range of films, carefully chosen for their ability to entertain and surprise. This is a family friendly event, with a great selection of local beverages and food on offer, along with special prizes and giveaways.
This year there will be two screenings in Bright (December 28 and January 4), and one in Mount Beauty (December 30). Head to the BMFT website for more details or to purchase your tickets.
Alpine Valleys Fringe Festival – January 9-12
This fun four day event, held at Feathertop Winery, features comedy, music and caberet set against a stunning vineyard backdrop.
Acts include Ginger and Tonic, Priscilla Armstrong, and comedian David Quirk, from the ABC TV series Rosehaven.

Alpine Classic Cycling Event – January 25 and 26
This fully supported cycling event, which traverses some of the country’s most stunning country, offers a wide selection of courses to suit all levels of cyclists.
Commencing and finishing in Bright, you can choose from eight courses – from moderate (60km in length) to challenging (320km)! Ride some of Australia’s best cycling routes knowing you’re fully supported.
The event now also includes the Bonjour Bright food and music festival.

Shakespeare in the Vines at Gapsted Wines – February 1
Enjoy live theatre in a stunning vineyard setting at Gapsted Wines.
The Summer event, presented by Melbourne-based Essential Theatre, will feature ‘Macbeth’. Enjoy a wine and locally inspired hamper as you enjoy one of Shakepeare’s premier works.

Jayco Herald Sun Tour – Stage 3 Bright to Wangaratta – February 7
Get up close with some of the world’s best cyclists on stage three of Australia’s oldest cycling race, which sees riders head from Bright to Wangaratta.
This stage, which traverses 178km of stunning High Country terrain, will start at 10am and is expected to take riders approximately four hours.
There are few better opportunities to mingle with world class cyclists in such a relaxed setting as Bright.

Australian 2020 Adventure Travel Film Festival – February 14-16
Enjoy three days of motivational films, speakers and authors, all focused on the central theme of adventure.
Held in Bright, you’ll be treated to a raft of inspirational people and their stories. The event includes a look back at some of the best adventure films ever made.
