yackandandah
Yackandandah is another former gold mining town located in the northeast Victoria, located between Beechworth & Wodonga.
The entire commercial centre has been classified by the National Trust and features many beautifully well-preserved buildings dating back to the mid and late 1800s during the height of the town’s gold mining days. Many of the streets are lined with deciduous trees making the township even more picturesque during Autumn months.
Some highlights to look out for include the Athenaeum (built in 1878), the court house (1863) now used as a community hall, the Bank of Victoria building (1860) which is now a museum, and the old post office (1856) where the local visitor information centre is now located.
